American Girl Book Club

Dressing up, dolls and other fluffy friends are encouraged for this class!  This class is all about promoting a love of books and reading, while immersing ourselves in various periods of American History.  The American Girl books are wonderful ways to see history through the eyes and adventures of relatable girls.  This is for all reading levels, as we will be listening to audiobook and doing a craft, recipe or activity each week related to the time period.

This is an 18 week class, designed for K to 5th grade students.  It meets Thursdays from 1:00 to 2:00

Around The World Celebrations

There is always something to celebrate around this big Earth!  Each week we will travel to a new country and experience a holiday or celebration that is actually being celebrated there right now.  We will learn about other countries and cultures through weekly crafts, games, foods, music and more.

Becoming the Ultimate Barista

Looking for an opportunity to learn coffee-making skills? In this class we’ll be studying all things coffee: the bean, the grind, the equipment, the history… and of course, we’ll be drinking lots of coffee! Students will learn the art of pulling shots, steaming milk, hot and iced espresso drinks along with italian sodas and chai teas. They will also learn about resumes, cover letters, cash handling, customer service and safe food handling. A self obtained Washington State Food Workers Permit will be required by the end of the 10 week course.  Course runs Mondays, 1:00-2:00    Teacher:  Stephanie Lentz

Doodle Bug: Art styles and entomology of PNW

If art and/or bugs are your thing, boy do we have a class for you!  Doodle Bugs will explore insects specific to the Pacific Northwest area as well as indigenous art styles.  Each week we will learn about a different insect, it’s parts and pieces, and then paint it!

Ink It Out

Writing letters is almost a lost skill!  In this class we will write letters to family and friends and even a famous person while learning how to address an envelope.  We will also send a letter requesting a product be mailed back to you.  In addition to all this we will also write a story and turn it into a book.

Learning Pockets

Learning Pockets (otherwise known as Literacy and History Pockets) are a great hands-on and engaging way to learn.  In this course we will focus on literacy skills as well as History.  Students will bring home a project each week.

Theater is a great teacher for life skills Grades 4-12

Have fun creating puppets, performing mini skits, creating with junk and playing games all the while developing the creative thinking, public speaking, and acting skills. When working in Theater (Drama), one needs to learn to think ahead and to be flexible. Team work, eye contact, memorization and other skills are all a part of the arts. Most importantly, this is a class to make friends and to have fun! Students will need to bring small items from home such as a sock for a puppet.  This two hour class meets Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00   To be in a culminating performance be sure to sign up for the second semester in January!  Teachers – Katie Connelly and Kyrsi Connelly

Let’s Get Writing!  Writing  Club is a place for young aspiring lovers of writing to meet, explore all the aspects of great writing and what it takes to be an author, all while experiencing life with peers who love words too!  We will explore Humor, Mystery and Science Fiction among other genre.
