American Sign Language (Beginners)

Students will learn the basics of this beautiful and useful language.  Reinforced through fun games, activities and practical application, students will learn ASL (American Sign Language) fingerspelling, names, numbers as well as everyday words and phrases.

This is an 18 week class designed for Kindergarten to 8th grade students.  It meets Thursdays from 2:00-3:00.

Barre

Barre is an amazing workout for all fitness levels and every body type!  This upbeat class is musically driven and focuses on time-under-tension exercises to build strength, endurance, and improve mobility.  The class is high-energy and uses mindful isolated movements set to popular music.  We will be building long, lean muscle, improving flexibility and posture, and increasing our endurance.  Get ready to dance, sweat and have fun!  Please wear comfortable workout clothes and sticky socks or bare feet during class.  Feel free to bring your own yoga mat.

Barton

Barton is a tutoring system for children and teenagers who struggle with spelling, reading and writing due to dyslexia or a learning disability. The system is a multi-sensory, structured and sequential program designed for intensive intervention. We work one -on-one with the student for one hour. Homework: none. You will be called to set the one hour session time once your child is registered.  Barton costs $50 per hour, this class provides 6 sessions.

Boot Camp

Come get sweaty and have fun doing it!  This course will lightly cover health and nutrition.  We will have a personal fitness component-focusing on increasing cardiovascular endurance and strength by playing fitness games, team relay races, circuit training and more!  All fitness and age levels welcome!

Circus

Have you ever wanted to join the circus?  We will be diving into a different circus act every week.  This is a very physical and active class.  Learn hula hoop tricks, juggling, balancing, clowning, poi ball spinning, acrobatics and more.  Class will also consist of crafting as we will make our own props.  This class will work towards a final performance at the end of the semester.

This is an 18 week class, designed for K to 8th grade students.  It meets Mondays from 12:00 to 1:00

Co-Op, Middle and High School Level

Join our Co-Op where we strive to support and build community with a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) focus.  We have expanded! After paying the family membership fee of $75, each student will have a $35 monthly fee for materials and facilities fee.   Middle and High School levels meet on  Mondays from 9:30 to 11:30 for fun lessons!    As a cooperative, parents are expected to be involved during co-op day. All classes are parent-taught and the program is parent-led.  Parents are also encouraged to volunteer in other ways (i.e.: plan field trips, coordinate classes).  The first month’s fees are charged here, then we will ask if you want to pay the rest of the year at the beginning of each month or pay the rest of the year in full with a 5% discount.

Cupboard To Belly

This class has a focus on no bake cooking and snacks!  Learn how to read labels, figure out how much is a serving size, and realize what foods go together!  Students will create healthy (for the most part) snacks that can easily replicated at home.

Doodle Bug: Art styles and entomology of PNW

If art and/or bugs are your thing, boy do we have a class for you!  Doodle Bugs will explore insects specific to the Pacific Northwest area as well as indigenous art styles.  Each week we will learn about a different insect, it’s parts and pieces, and then paint it!

Ink It Out

Writing letters is almost a lost skill!  In this class we will write letters to family and friends and even a famous person while learning how to address an envelope.  We will also send a letter requesting a product be mailed back to you.  In addition to all this we will also write a story and turn it into a book.

Theater is a great teacher for life skills Grades 4-12

Have fun creating puppets, performing mini skits, creating with junk and playing games all the while developing the creative thinking, public speaking, and acting skills. When working in Theater (Drama), one needs to learn to think ahead and to be flexible. Team work, eye contact, memorization and other skills are all a part of the arts. Most importantly, this is a class to make friends and to have fun! Students will need to bring small items from home such as a sock for a puppet.  This two hour class meets Thursdays from 1:00 to 3:00   To be in a culminating performance be sure to sign up for the second semester in January!  Teachers – Katie Connelly and Kyrsi Connelly

Times Tales

Times Tales is an award-winning program that is designed in a captivating format using visuals, stories, and games.  Come learn the 18 hardest multiplication facts in a fun, non-drill format.  Students need a basic understanding of multiplication, this class is appropriate for students in grades 3 to 6th who have worked on the lower (1’s and 2’s) multiplication facts.  Class is limited to 8 students.

This 18 week class meets on Thursdays at 2:00-3:00.

Tutoring

We can support students in mathematics, reading and writing, only one content of focus per enrollment.  If you want your child to be tutored in multiple subjects please contact us at hi@achievetodayhrc.com.   We will contact you to set up a mutually agreed upon time to meet with your child.  Time to be established by you and the tutor. This class costs $50 per hour, the $300 will give 6 weeks of tutoring.

Washington State History

Students will learn the history, geography and economy of the state, including Native American cultures and the development of Washington territory through statehood. We will use a combination of media, crafts and journaling.
